1 month old

Eden is in the back, Bella in the middle, and Hannah up front.

I don't know if you noticed, but Hannah has socks, Bella has one sock, and Eden has no socks. That is pretty much about how it works around here. We think it's pretty awesome that they're all dressed!

So we're finding out that keeping the girls in matching outfits is no small task, and we've pretty much given up on it. But I did manage to get them all in the same outfit for about 3 hours before one of them wet through it and needed to be changed, so I hurried and snapped some shots! Here they are at 1 month old, finally fitting (well, kind of fitting) into Newborn-sized clothing!

Comfort in a Scent

Triplet Mom Thought of the Day:

This morning I lit my favorite candle from Salt City Candles. It is "Welcome Home," which is also marketed as "Christmas Eve." The aroma has already filled my living room and kitchen and it smells soooooo yummy! Its scent even persuaded me to take a deep breath with my eyes closed to experience it more deeply. It smells so wonderful! Which brings me to my thought of the day: When you are pregnant with triplets there is the first 1/2 of your pregnancy when nothing smells wonderful and even smells you formerly loved are revolting, and then there's the 2nd half of your pregnancy when your are so uncomfortable that nothing brings comfort and you don't even care if something smells good. Needless to say, it has been a long time since anything smelled this good and I am so grateful that something as simple as lighting a candle brought me comfort today! Hooray for not being pregnant! Hooray for my Salt City Candle!

WEIGH-IN

THE BIG WEIGH-IN:

Today the girls got to go in for their weight-check. This is a thing you get to do all the time when you have preemies until their weight takes off on its own (which is beginning to happen...yeah!)

Hannah Jane: 6 lbs. 10 oz., 20 inches!!!
Bella Grace: 6 lbs. 8 oz. 19 3/4 inches!!!
Eden Hope: 5 lbs. 3 oz. 19 inches!

We have graduated to a 3 week span until the next weight check! Hooray!
I'll post new pics soon. For now I've got to get some sleep.

Thought of the Day

Today's Triplet Mom thought of the Day:
My sister Lisa is in Italy on vacation with her Yah-yahs (translation: best girlfriends). I'm invited. I'm missing it because I'm busy. I'm jealous of her. I can't help it. Even though I'm living a different dream, hers sounds pretty wonderful right now. In between my sessions of breast-feeding and pumping, I imagine her travels. I bet she is seeing beautiful sights like the leaning tower of Pisa, the Colleseum, and Michealangelo's David--ooh la la. She's having the time of her life. I had a small taste of independence before I got pregnant and my youngest child was 4. It's gone now, and I think it will be a while before I make it to Italy with Yah-yahs. Lisa, put me down for 2020. I'm busy until then.

Triplet Q & A and thoughts and stuff

I know so many of you have burning questions that you want answered, so I think I'll start a Triplet Q & A and put a link to it here on my website. That will of course take time, which is quite scarce, but I'm working on it. I also have been advised that if I don't write things down right now that this year will be a blur to me, so I thought I'd add a Triplet Mom thought of the Day link (or thought of the week or month, whichever it may be). In any case, today I have two thoughts:

1. Sometimes when you're a mom of triplets you are too tired to even think of a thought.

2. Sometimes when you're a mom of triplets your husband sees that your sleep deprivation and distress is taking a toll on the whole family (including him) and takes the nightshift so you can get 7 straight hours of sleep (this happened last night). When this happens you have enough energy to think of a Thought of the Day.

3. That thought is this: Sleep is beautiful. And necessary.

I'm on a roll now, so thought #4 for today:

4. I am living a miracle. Each day that they breathe, eat, and live on their own without medical assistance I am reminded that I am blessed beyond measure. Their very existence in this world is miraculous.

And now I'm really going...

5. I have such incredibly generous friends and family. Our support team has successfully readied us with supplies to meet the needs of these little miracles. Okay, so last week we did run out of Preemie size diapers and I had to go to the store and purchase new ones. And when you buy diapers for triplets, you don't buy one or two packages, you buy 5 minimum. So there I was at Wal-Mart loading up the conveyer belt with my Preemie diaper stash (which, by the way, lasted one week), and I was even able to pull out some cash that had been gifted to us to pay for them. When one week of diapers costs about $56.00, cash comes in very handy! Thank you so much! Thankfully, we are into the N for newborn size now, so we are breaking into the diapers that we have stowed away in the closet. (Okay, this was a little bit of a long "thought.")
